Our StoryFrom NYC to the Catskills: Building a Creative Homestead Where Art, Nature & Community Meet
In 2017, we left New York City with a simple question: What would life feel like if we lived closer to the land — and closer to each other?
That question led us to 5 acres in High Falls, New York, where Namahai was born.
This Is Not a Template Life
What we've built here isn't curated or optimized. It's intentional — and in many ways, quietly revolutionary. We tend gardens and children. We raise chickens, ducks, and dogs. We cook meals from what we grow, make art in our studio, drum and sing by firelight, and welcome strangers who become friends around our table. Choosing to live in relationship with land, animals, and community requires daily practice. It asks us to reinvent ourselves while staying rooted in something real, continually. Namahai exists because we believe this kind of life is possible — and not reserved for a select few. We believe people are hungry for grounding, for meaning, for creativity woven into daily living rather than separated from it. That's why we opened our homestead to others.
What Happens Here
Over the years, Namahai has evolved into aand place where people come to:
Restore through our Catskills micro-retreats and glamp experiences
Create in our Art Lab studio surrounded by nature
Connect through seasonal gatherings, herbal workshops, and shared meals
Life here is shaped less by calendars and more by seasons. By light and weather. By when the soil is ready, when the fire needs tending, and when rest is required. We're continually learning how to release the pace of modern life and re-attune ourselves to nature's clock — imperfectly, patiently, and together. Music has become a part of our lives on this land. We sing and drum as a form of prayer and presence — woven into daily life, not set apart from it.
Meet the Stewards
Marianna — Artist, Writer, Herbal enthusiast & Homesteader
Marianna's first creative language was writing. Words were her way of listening, of reaching toward meaning, of touching what felt deep and sacred. Over time, she discovered that some experiences could not be held by language alone - and that was when visual art entered her life. Creativity expanded naturally into design, gardening, plants, stars, and hosting - not as separate disciplines, but as one continuous practice of attention. At Namahai, Marianna moves between notebooks and garden beds, kitchen tables and gathering spaces - creating environments where people feel safe enough to slow down and remember what they already know.
Natanel — Builder, Chef, Musician & Land Steward
Natanel brings fire to the heart of the homestead. A passionate Renaissance spirit, he is a builder, gardener, cook, musician, and devoted caretaker of land and animals. His presence is alive, expressive, curious, and deeply engaged with the world around him. Natanel works with intensity and joy: building structures, cooking meals with flair, tending gardens and animals, lighting fires, drumming, singing, and moving through the land with a vitality that animates the space. For him, tending the homestead is not routine - it's a relationship.
Together
We're raising our family while stewarding this land and building Namahai as a living, evolving practice. Life here is full and textured - children and animals, meals and music, work and play, rest and renewal. Namahai is not a perfected vision. It is a commitment - to daily practice, to creative fire, and to living in relationship with the land and each other.
